I was employed as a builder for 10 years and found that there was a gap in the market with no-one able to to provide a one stop shop for building solutions. Its about going above and beyond.

Starting any business is hard work as there is always obstacles Eg Finding like-minded staff, Health & Safety, creating our image, starting our website, finding suitable premises etc

Within a couple of months of starting the business we encountered a issue regarding asbestos removal. Long story short there was a lot of additional costs that we were unaware of. In the end we pulled together as a team and it enabled us to have a deep look into our Health & Safety procedures, which has resulted in Ze Build being Heath and safety experts.

I started the business from scratch which meant I had to really persevere initially to get my name out there. There was a couple of days that I doubted myself however with the support of my wife I was able to overcome any doubt I had and beat the competition to get my name out there and get the business off the ground.

When I first started the business it was just my wife and myself and over the last 2 & a half years the business has been extremely successful to the point we now have 25 strong and reliable staff members. We have also expanded the Ze brand to incorporate Plumb, Gas & Drainage with a further 4 staff members and a hire facility with temporary fencing, diggers and trucks.

I sponsor the Orewa Hot Rodders show, we make regular Westpac Helicopter and IHG donations aswell as supporting our local sports clubs (Netball, soccer & rugby).

Offering work experience and jobs for local high school students aswell as taking part in fund raisers/ local fund raising opportunities. We ensure that we support local and use local businesses as much as we can.

We really treat our staff like they are family as we believe they are the foundation to our success. We have recently made a tiki bar onsite so we can ensure we have a friendly zone for everyone to relax in after a hard days work.
