Business mission and vision:
To have a successful small business that provides for our familty and a handful of employees.
“Trade and retail suppliers of decorative, industrial, automotive paints and panel beating supplies.”
The personal touch, our customers are not just a number.
It was a goal of mine to start a business from scratch, I have massive respect for anyone that has done it in the past. It was something in life that I had to tick off the list.
Starting the business on a tight budget meant we didn’t have much working capital to put into marketing and advertising, so the first few years we were all about relationship building and going direct to the market. On top of that we were suppling a relatively unknown brand of products in this region, so we were definitely the new kids on the block all around and our corporate opposition companies tried to expose that.
We had grown our business working with smaller painting contractors/building companies, the day we targeted a bigger company that were, at the time, using a very well-known brand of products in NZ, we came up against the firepower of this company. I’m happy to say we came out on top and to this day we have a very good relationship with this building company and they are a key part of our business.
Since we started the business we’ve been through it all, getting turnovers off the ground, finding a way to pay the bills, a world pandemic, rebuilding after the pandemic, heck even throw in a bout of shingles from all the stress for good measure. There were days where I couldn’t face doing another cold call or picking up the phone to call a new client and introduce myself, but you just have to persevere and be determined, to this day some of our great clients came from those cold calls or phone calls.
Being able to bring Anna on board, the business now fully supports our family and gives her the freedom to work school hours and give the better work/life balance for our family.
