Having served his apprenticeship, Jason Lee worked his way up to Glazier Foreman, then went subcontracting. All this was building up to going out on his own.

In 2008, Jason started Hi Class Glass Ltd with the motto that “every client is our best client”.

However, Jason had to find work, build a customer base, get credit accounts opened with suppliers and then market his business – all whilst glazing during the day. So he pushed himself and drew on the contacts he’d established sub-contracting, and slowly things came together.

Then a big contract came along: Ever the optimist, Jason quoted for a big construction job… and got it. It stretched him but he did it well, and it led to the large construction contracts that are now part of the business.

Recently a new business partner came on-board to further grow the business. Kalem Good is an experienced glazier in his own right.

Hi-Class Glass now employs 11 staff including two apprentices with a vision “to continue growing and be an established and reputable glazing business”.

A lot of experience! Jason and Kalem are fully qualified glaziers with over 20 years of experience and members for GANZ (the Glass Association of New Zealand).

They can do pretty much any job with a wide range of techniques and ideas to draw on.

And by having trade qualified staff, customers are assured the Hi Class Glass team will be courteous, educated, and know how to achieve the best results.

Planning, building contacts, and perseverance.

Jason had a long-term plan. He went from glazier to foreman, then to sub-contracting, all the while building skills, reputation, experience, and contacts.

When he opened Hi-Class Glass he was ready, and knew what to expect and he wasn’t proven wrong: Those early days growing a small business, during uncertain economic times, took all his perseverance and resilience.

Yet he remained positive, worked hard, and dreamt big. When that big job came he was ready and willing.

He also knew his skills and brought in experts to help: “A big part of growing the business has been the sales & marketing of the business and working with Web Genius…as our needs and requirements have changed, Web Genius have been there offering help along the way”.

Let’s let the customers answer that:

“True professionals and craftsman who deliver what they promise” – Scott Opticin, Mt Eden

“Completed as specified, on time and more importantly on budget” – Chris & Amanda Pritchard Farm Cove

“High level of knowledge and expertise” – Peter and Wendy Matthews

“Achieved results that far exceeded our expectations” – John Abel-Pattinson

“Uncompromising in quality and customer service” – John Dawson, Defit NZ Limited

Jason’s proud to have two apprentices on board. They also have a dedicated Health & Safety Officer keeping everyone safe.

At the moment they’re sponsoring several staff members in the Auckland Half Marathon.

Local businesses get first look in as suppliers wherever possible.

Over the years they’ve sponsored touch teams, golf tournaments etc.
