Family circumstances dictated I needed to be there for my kids when their mum became unwell and I had long recognised a gap in the market for a mixed business model that deals in New – Used – Ex Display Equipment with a specialised focus on heavy duty Hospitality Equipment for all forms of Food Service, from Cafe’s to Marae Kitchens
First we had to secure quality suppliers. Kiwi based manufacturers and other industry partners that import good equipment from around the world, with good contacts in the industry already from a previous professional life in hospitality equipment supply we were able to accomplish this with some pushback whereby we needed to prove our expertise was top notch, afterall we are representing these companies products and the correct appliance for the correct finished product is key to servicing our industry in a professional manner.
In short Covid. We were fortunate in that we had already established ourselves in the industry NZ wide when covid hit, fortunately we service other sectors outside of just Hospitality, Marae & Healthcare, Rest Homes etc kept us ticking while the Hospitality industry was struggling with fixed costs and close to zero trade.
When your back is to the wall you have a choice, wind up the business and walk away or pull apart every aspect of your business to reduce costs, less warehousing, less income, even the phone plan, all this has made us leaner and better able to deal with future shocks.
Firstly at start up time it was about survival and proving the business model, getting through the covid years and now seeing steady growth again, we are also taking on more project work, full fit outs which requires a high degree of confidence in us to deliver a project. We started very humbly and are now a part of the equipment landscape nationally with a lot of referrals, very satisfying.
Our customer care is industry leading, call us on the weekend or outside business hours and we will answer the phone, whether someone wants to buy something, requires a quote or just pick our brains about the best equipment for their product we are here to help, 24/7 we are here for people and will help if we can.
We have a very small staff but have a massive team, from Manufacturers to Logistics to Service Techs Nationwide
Everyone from Designers, Transport Companies, Gas Fitters, Electricians, Appliance Techs, Refrigeration Technicians , Stainless Fabricators to online Marketing
We only employ from the industry, people with first hand knowledge of equipment in food & beverage delivery systems across multiple sectors, training is ongoing and on the job, after over 20 years in the Equipment supply for commercial kitchen field I’m still learning every day.
We constantly get great feedback on the phone or by email, perhaps something we could do better is encourage our clients to post reviews online
Personally this business gave me the freedom to focus on my kids and be available for them, it’s also nice to work largely from home with regular travel around our beautiful country for work, its a lifestyle that holds more value than money, also being able to assist people in their business’ is very satisfying.
We like to support local sports teams through sponsorship and recently did some voluntary work for a committee at a local community centre to help get their cafe up and running and assist with selecting an appropriate operator for the cafe, this is now up and operational and they are doing very well, we are proud to have been invited to assist and the result is great for the entire local community.
We have a strong environmental focus on packaging, we re use as much as possible from supplier provided packaging, pallets etc and re use this material for the stock side of the business, this makes sense from an ecological standpoint as well as financially for the business.
