Business mission and vision:
To deliver powerful , creative and effective videos crafted to exceed our client’s unique requirements.
“Video production (full service).”
Creativity, excellent communications, exceeding expectations and fun.
To pursue a career doing something I love and to produce a product without compromise.
I started FYI Media following the closure (after 18 years) of The Very Useful Picture Company – a video production company that I co-owned. The challenge was starting a business in a competitive market with high profile video production houses like Taylormade (Ian Taylor and Animation Research) and Natural History Unit – Fox owned.
Trusting a local company to build an effective website. It was totally ineffective and expensive. An extremely costly mistake that has recently been reversed by Webgenius.
I learned many lessons in the first video production company I co-owned. I have been able to overcome adversities simply by not having a business partner and from what I learnt from those lessons.
I am ver proud of my extremely loyal client base that continues to grow. I have been able to service these clients and deliver on FYI Media’s mission statement – as above.
The relationship that I have with my clients. Proof can be found in the video testimonials I have on the FYI Media website.
Zero. I employ contractors – Dunedin is blessed with many talented video contractors who are keen to work.
Drone pilot, audio engineer, actors, narrators, marketing experts, writers, camera operators, social media/LinkedIn experts, editors.
All the contractors FYI Media employs already come very well trained.
I have many video testimonials on the FYI Media website. I record new testimonial on a very regular basis to keep the website one fresh and up to date.
Networking (BNI, Chamber of Commerce – FYI Media is the Otago Chamber of Commerce’s supplier of video content.) Having had 50 years in radio and video production I am able to provide advice and ‘hands on’ assistance to those that want it – ie: voice production and narration. By providing free video resources to support community and non profit organisations e.g. Chatbus – a free school counselling service for primary and intermediate schools in and around Dunedin. FYI Media is currently producing an awareness video campaign and fund raiser.
Chatbus – as above. In production is a video for the Middlemarch Museum about an historic submarine designed to mine for gold in Otago rivers. Audio and video resources for Highland Harmony – Dunedin’s only Barbershop chorus.
Employment. Knowledge/experience/advise. Video resources support including NZCAF Aerobics, many small start-up business, Otago Boys High School Young Enterprise Scheme (YES). Metro Indoor Sports facility (previous owner)
