We have a lot of experience in the automotive industry and myself from an Apprentice technician to Service Manager for Audi and Porsche Wellington before opening AVS which has given me experience through every angle of business. We have technicians that are qualified and have experience all over the world and we keep up to date with the latest training available. We have state of the art diagnostics with technical support in the UK and Australia and we use specialised tooling for each job and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. We only use top quality parts and lubricants. We pride ourselves on carrying each and every job out to the highest standard with the customers best interests in mind. We aim to keep up with the times in the automotive industry.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

None YET, but I will not give up and learn from each award we enter.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Please describe why you decided to go into business for yourself.<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
I wanted to provide a dealer level experience at a fair and reasonable rate and with a lot of passion and experience for the European brands and the automotive industry.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Please describe some of the challenges you needed to overcome to get your business off the ground.<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
Challenge 1 was trying to support my family with very little income
\nChallenge 2 was trying to work as much as possible and raise my children
\nChallenge 3 was finding a way to deal with stress and pressure<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Please tell us about an example where you managed to overcome a significant challenge that stood in the way of your business success.<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
I overcame a challenge when I damaged a customers vehicle whilst raising the vehicle in the air. I then immediately rung the customer and explained I have made an error and would like to remedy this situation. the answer from the customer was I will be down shortly the customer then arrived and said I appreciate your honesty, I would not have noticed the damage of where it was I proceeded to get the vehicle repaired and then gained a few work vehicles to service and maintain due to my honesty and we still look after this customer today.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Please explain how perseverance or overcoming adversity has been necessary for you to make a success of your business.<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
I have persevered from day one with my motto being, we will only ever replace what is required on your vehicle. In the early days there was not a lot of work at all but by keeping true and honest to all customers this has paid off 5 years later. We now have a lot of repeat work and have a trustworthy brand<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>What business success have you achieved to date? <\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
Just hitting 5 years we have achieved a new premises, a team of 7 people growing to 8 in November – we have signed an apprentice up and we have a really good positive team. We entered the Electra business awards which was a challenge and got some great feedback from the judges and will give it another go next time around with the aim of walking away with an award this time. We also have been involved with BNI and this has given me more confidence and taught me about networking.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>What are you most proud of in relation to your business?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
I am proud of creating a brand that myself, staff and customers know, trust and like.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

7 going to 8 in November This includes myself and my Partner who is also a director<\/div><\/div><\/div>

We use Brian Electrical, Cooper Tyres, All over IT, Star people HR and Recruitment, Web Genius most other outsourcing we go to other businesses<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>What training opportunities have you provided to the people you employ?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
We have an apprentice who is signed up with MITO. We also have online training through a diagnostic supplier and we have a weekend course coming available for all staff later in the year which will be located at Southwards\u00a0Car Museum.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>What positive reviews and testimonials do you have from happy customers?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
A big thank you to Chris and the team at AVS for a quick efficient repair. You had me back on the road must faster than expected. I absolutely recommend these guys for any mechanical work, not just European models (proud Mazda owner).<\/p>\n

We rented two camper vans and we had the time of our lives. Good clean and easy to use. One of my best weekends ever.<\/p>\n

I had handling problems with my BMW 550i which I had bought recently. Chris and his team resolved the problem and carried out other work and the final bill came in nearly 1\/2 their estimate. Car was returned sparkling cleaned. A couple of days later I left some lights on and wound up with a flat battery. Chris sent out a mechanic and jump started the car at no cost. Chris and his team provide the best service I have ever experienced from a garage and I can’t recommend them highly enough.<\/p>\n

We are so pleased we took our BMW to Chris been in contact with me with everything that needs to been done went the bit extra to make sure we can get it done…. Definitely have got us as life long customers highly recommend AVS<\/p>\n

Helped us to get a second opinion about the condition of our car which turned out to be spot-on. Very friendly, a good listener (which is becoming a rare virtue) and efficient in finding the source of trouble, which was NOT a defect head gasket which the first mechanic that we asked identified as the problem. Thanks Chris. We will be back…<\/p>\n

Amazing service car came back cleaned as well as fixed.
\nI had been having a few problems with my car over the last few months. I had it at another garage finding the problem and got quoted $3600 for the part alone I was recommended to try AVS by a friend and pleased I did $2250 for the part pheww. I was told it would take 6 hours to fit and was very happy when I got the phone call and it only only took 4.5. When I go to pick the car up it had been cleaned as well.
\nI have saved a lot of money using ASV and wish I could give more then 5 stars.

We benefit by having satisfaction with employing staff which helps them and their families. We benefit by being able to have a holiday each year and the business can run without both myself and my partner Liz being present.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

We are proud supporters of Kapiti. We fundraise for Mary Potter Hospice and we collected for Kidney kids. We sponsor the local squash club. We sponsor a 4×4 event held in the Hutt Valley and we sponsored a child to go to a holiday program through Next Level Life fitness.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

We will help anyone. We are proud to own a business in Kapiti, we will help anyone broken down on the side of the road or someone run out of petrol or an elderly person that may need a hand crossing the road.<\/div><\/div><\/div>
